    Time Event
    8:48p
    Hmmmmph
A bloody server outage is stopping me from playing cards, so I'm here to do some doodling.

I got back to Brissie on Tuesday night and took delivery of my new PC this morning. The entire system, including both the main unit I received today and the monitor that's been lying around for an eternity now, is still packaged up, but soon it'll all be up and running, I hope. Then it's just a matter of getting Internet access at home and voilà, I'll be once more conveniently linked to the outside world without having to rely on Internet cafés and uni computers.

I played poker at the Crown on both Sunday and Monday, entering two tournies, one on each day. Sadly, I busted out of both within 40 minutes. But on Monday I saddled off to the 4/8 cash game (lowest limit in the house) and cleaned up very nicely, thank you very much. It was arguably one of the juiciest live games I've ever played. Loosey goosey fishies, calls, calls and more calls: "no foldem" holdem. What a game. So I'm not displeased with my time there. They have an $1.100 Aussie Millions satellite event going on at the end of August, but that's a hefty buyin so I'll probably have to pass on that one. But I still have the distant goal of a huge event such as the AM, WSOP or WPT in mind, some time within the next five years or so. This is still a serious career possibility for me, but definitely only a theoretical possibility at the moment.

After an earlier bungle of sending stuff to the completely incorrect address, I resent some paperwork complete with notarized (at my expense) photographs off to the Jamaican Embassy by double-registered s-mail, which, when processed, will facilitate a subsequent new passport application (of course that's tricky right this instant, mainly because I don't have anyone to hand to countersign the form, but I have two blank forms lying in wait; these are almost farcically bureaucratic forms, FWIW).

There are thousands of Aussies trapped in the Lebanon... let's all hold hands and pray they make it to safety somehow or other. *in prayer*

    Current Mood: hopeful
Current Music: A lull of blissful silence (iPod's at home)
